COLD BREW
Here’s your guide to brewing smooth, refreshing cold brew every time.
WHAT YOU NEED
Cold Brew Maker or Large Glass Jar
Coffee Grinder (burr grinder preferred)
Coarse-Ground Coffee
Digital Scale (optional but recommended)
Filtered Water
Spoon or Stir Stick
Fine Mesh Strainer or Paper Filter (for filtering after brewing)
Container or Bottle (for storing finished cold brew)
MEASUREMENTS
Coffee (g):
Use a 1:8 coffee-to-water ratio for strong cold brew concentrate.
Examples:
50 g coffee → 400 g water
75 g coffee → 600 g water
100 g coffee → 800 g water
(Adjust based on batch size.)
Water:
Use cold, filtered water for the cleanest flavour.
Grind Size:
Coarse, similar to raw sugar or breadcrumbs.
(Too fine will cause bitterness and make filtering difficult.)
Brew Time:
Steep for 12–18 hours in the fridge or at room temperature.
(Shorter = lighter, longer = stronger.)
HOW TO MAKE THE PERFECT COLD BREW
Step 1: Measure & Grind
Start by measuring your coffee using a 1:8 ratio.
Example: 50 g coffee → 400 g water.
Grind the beans coarse, similar to raw sugar. This prevents bitterness and makes filtering easier.
Step 2: Add Coffee to Your Brewer
Place the coarse grounds into your cold brew maker or jar.
Ensure the grounds sit evenly at the bottom for balanced extraction.
Step 3: Add Water
Slowly pour cold, filtered water over the grounds.
Make sure all the coffee is saturated.
Give it a gentle stir to eliminate dry pockets.
Step 4: Steep
Cover your cold brew maker or jar.
Let it steep for 12–18 hours in the fridge (or at room temperature if preferred).
Longer steeping results in a stronger, more concentrated brew.
Step 5: Filter
After steeping, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or paper filter to remove the grounds.
This creates a clean, smooth cold brew concentrate.
Step 6: Enjoy
Cold brew concentrate is strong — dilute 1:1 with water or milk depending on your taste.
Serve over ice and enjoy a smooth, low-acidity coffee.
